About the Work
Salutation was created as part of Ernest Trova's eight-piece collection titled Personae/Etc. The artist drew these works in St. Louis between May and October 1995, showcasing his late-career experimentation with abstract expressionism. The collection was inspired by an alternate persona that Trova, a shy individual, would later refer to as "Junior Person," representing a more eccentric side of himself. The pieces were hand-printed at Studio Heinrici in New York City in late 1995 and published by Lococo Fine Art, based in St. Louis, the following year.
