About the Work
Position A is a lithographic print created in 1966 by German artist Paul Wunderlich. The image depicts a nude woman with an elongated, tensile body posed atop a bright blue bench in an exaggerated fold. This surrealist representation of the female figure exemplifies Wunderlich's trademark aesthetic, which prominently features the female form across his extensive body of work. Furthermore, the image's fine geometric lines and muted palette recall the Art Deco and modernist movements, which heavily influenced Wunderlich's work.
This lithograph was likely printed by the renowned French printmaking studio Atelier Edmond et Jacques Dejobert.
